Official Statement: Saurabh Chandrakar Clarifies Misinformation Surrounding Wedding Expenses and Other Allegations

Mr. Saurabh Chandrakar Photo

DELHI, India, Oct. 16, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — In light of recent media reports surrounding the Mahadev App case, Mr. Saurabh Chandrakar, an entrepreneur hailing from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, finds it imperative to address the glaring misinformation and unfounded accusations that have surfaced. As a dedicated businessman with an unblemished record, Mr. Chandrakar has been taken aback by the baseless claims regarding his alleged involvement in illicit activities.

Contrary to sensationalized reports, Mr. Chandrakar vehemently asserts that the entire wedding ceremony, costing around AED 10 million, was entirely funded by his internal accruals and savings. Meticulous well-documented records substantiating the sources of his income are available. Circulating news suggesting a payment of INR 200 Crores in cash raise incredulity, and while Mr. Chandrakar questions the feasibility of such an enormous cash transaction, he emphasizes the lack of practicality of such claims.

Mr. Chandrakar refutes claims about the alleged extravagant expenses reported by certain sources. He specifically indicates that all financial aspects of the event were overseen by professional event managers, and no cash transactions were involved at any stage of the planning or execution; to insinuate otherwise is purely speculative and unfounded. Documents and financial records are available to substantiate these facts, providing clear evidence that dispels any notions of impropriety.

Furthermore, Mr. Chandrakar firmly believes that the mention of celebrities at the event was grossly exaggerated. He indicates that all those who attended the wedding were engaged by the event management company, which facilitated their attendance. Mr. Chandrakar is also keen to emphasize that all artists were hired by the company exclusively to attend and perform at the event. There were no direct financial transactions between Mr. Chandrakar and these celebrities, as all payments were processed in complete transparency through the event management company, via legal banking channels.

Mr. Chandrakar strongly asserts no association with the Mahadev App or its operations. Accusations depicting him as the “Founder/Promoter/Director” of the Mahadev App lack credibility and are unequivocally false. Additionally, claims about his involvement in 60 illicit offshore platforms are baseless and entirely unsubstantiated.

Mr. Chandrakar vehemently denies any suspicious connections with individuals or organisations that participate in unlawful activities. Any similar allegations are merely rumours, completely baseless, and nothing more than ‘a figment of imagination.’ He strongly expresses astonishment at such allegations.

It is also imperative to clarify that there are no operations in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or Nepal associated with Mr. Chandrakar. Such claims are entirely false and defamatory, lacking any shred of truth. Mr. Chandrakar has never travelled to these countries, and any claims of his alleged participation in illicit activities in these regions lack any foundation and completely slanderous.

Mr. Chandrakar earnestly urges media outlets to cease spreading unfounded rumours and sensationalized and exaggerated stories that not only tarnish his reputation but also erode public trust in responsible journalism.

Subsidy removal: Our pains are temporary – FG

The Federal Government has reassured that the pains being experienced by Nigerians over the recent removal of fuel subsidy will be temporary.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

He explained that it was obvious that the ultimate benefits of the removal of the subsidy would be reaped by the common man.

Idris said it was regrettable that only few people were, hitherto, benefitting from subsidy regime, adding that the few were enjoying the common wealth of the entire country at the expense of the majority.

“So, President Bola Tinubu said, he would not be part of that. He stands with the majority of Nigerians.

“Although, the removal will be painful at the beginning, but it will be better for all of us at the end,” he said.

The minister explained: “Fuel subsidy removal is like the pregnant woman due for delivery and in labour; when she is in labour pains, she will feel and prefer she never had the opportunity to bear a child.

“However, after the child is delivered, then the woman will hold her baby, smile and becomes the happiest woman in the world.

“I think, that analogy can be applied to this issue of fuel subsidy removal.

“So, the pains will be temporary, but at the end, we will be better for it; that is what President Bola Tinubu believes in, and that is what he is preaching”.

The Minister recalled that, within the first few months of Tinubu’s administration, he allocated funds to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for palliatives to cushion the effect of subsidy removal

“This is because Tinubu believes that the state governors are people who know their terrains very well.

“He also made available assorted grains and fertilisers to help cushion the immediate concerns of Nigerians about the removal of fuel subsidy.

“I can assure you that in the long run, Nigeria will be better for it,” Idris said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

Why I am advocating trust in public communication – Information Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris says he is advocating trust in public communication as most Nigerians no longer have faith in their leaders.

The Minister stated this in an exclusive interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

“What we want is to let Nigerians know the truth from those that should tell the truth. I think it is imperative that trust in public communication should be returned.

“This is because, we have seen a gradual erosion in the believe and trust of government communication in this country.

“We have reached a level where most Nigerians don’t even believe what their leaders are telling them and these are leaders the people elected by themselves.

“So, there is a need for us, seeing where we are coming from and seeing that deficit in trust, to begin to, at least maintain the truth at all times, no matter what it cost, so that people can then trust their leaders and the information coming from them,” he said.

According to the minister, telling the truth is the starting point, adding that when people know that. government is telling the truth, those who are reporting the information also have to report the truth.

He said the government is going to encourage everyone involve to always say the truth.

“We are going to campaign against conveyors of bad news, because bad news can lead to destruction, anarchy and disunity.

“It is absolutely important that we tell the truth at all times, and we are going to encourage all media practitioners to adhere to the values and truth; the values that this profession had taught us,” the Minister said.

On fake news, the Minister emphasised that it was not only Nigeria’s problem, stressing that it is actually a global challenge that even developed countries are struggling to overcome.

He explained that there is a global search for the best way to tackle the issue of fake news.

“When such best strategy is gotten, Nigeria will begin to key into it, to see that the issues of fake news are deal with in a more responsible manner.

“This will be done without infringing on the rights of the people and what is happening around them”. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

Fake news: FG pledges not to trample on rights

The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that it will not trample on people’s right and press freedom in the fight against fake news and disinformation in the country.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

Idris called on Nigerians to always “promote the truth and nothing but the truth”.

“We must be in the fore front of advocating for truthful information all the time. Everything that is fake should not be promoted.

“This is because, it can lead to anarchy and destruction of lives and properties. And by the way, nobody will want his home, country, state or nation to be in taters because somebody is encouraging fake news.

“Fake news should be condemned in all its ramifications. I have said that it is important for all of us to be careful in the way we navigate these waters. We know that we don’t want fake news,” he said.

The Minister further explained that there are people who are using many platforms to provide credible information, adding that such is desirable and should be emulated.

“So, we must collectively come together and see ways and means by which these fake news can be tackled without necessarily trampling on the rights of the people, free press and freedom of information,” he said

The minister said that Nigeria will key into the strategies and best practices to be adopted by the international community in the curtailment of fake news vendors. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

What Tinubu mandated me to do – Idris

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, says, President Bola Tinubu mandated him to promote patriotism, honesty and transparency as the core values of the administration.

The Minister made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.

According to him, President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ is to take Nigeria to an enviable height among the committee of nations and change the negative narrative about the country.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris

“He charged me with the responsibility to ensure that Nigerians are reoriented within the few years that we are here, so that, at least, we can recover our sense as a nation and begin to go in the right direction.

“It is a great challenge. You know that moral decadence is not among the youths only but among the entire social strata of the country.

“I think that is why the president renamed the Ministry of Information and Culture to Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

“It means the president want to put the issues of orientation and reorientation in the front burner,” Idris said.

The Minister further explained that the virtues of patriotism, honesty and transparency were some of the things that Tinubu is vigorously promoting.

“He has given us a marching order to see that those values are promoted and put on the front burner and disseminated to the majority of Nigerians for the good of all”. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

VIO to partner with UT-PRON, others to reduce auto crashes on FCT roads

The Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) FCT, says it will partner UT-PRON, an affiliate of National Environmental Standards Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) to reduce cases of accidents in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The partnership is part of efforts to reduce accidents which can be traced majorly to faculty motor vehicle tyres.

This is contained in a statement by the Head, Public Relations and Enlightenment of DRTS, Mr Kalu Emetu on Monday in Abuja.

According to him, the directorate went into partnership with UT-PRON and other environmental agencies when they paid a courtesy visit to the Director of DRTS, Dr Abdul-Lateef Bello, on Monday in Abuja.

The leader of the group, Mr William Nwoye, said the partnership is necessary towards organising the National Tyre Safety Week, scheduled for the third week of November.

He explained that the mandate of his group is to collect and manage tyres not roadworthy in the operations of the DRTS, classified by the Federal Standard as End-Life of Tyres (ELT).

This, according to him are tyres seized by road traffic personnel for being in bad conditions to ensure safety on the roads.

Nwoye further stated that through the recovery of such ELT tyres, his organisation would generate data and report on the number of ELT recovered by DRTS and other agencies.

This, he said, included private organisations which would go a long way in reducing accidents on Nigerian roads, especially in the FCT.

The leader of the group further advocated for the marking of ELT tyres still operating on the public roads, for the commuters and other members of the public to be warned.

Nwoye said the marking of the ELT tyres were the safety concern and part of UT-PRON social responsibility, adding that vehicles with bad tyres were just like “Caskets on Wheels”.

He commended DRTS for its efforts towards making the traffic in the FCT a seamless one, urging for sustainability for safety of lives.

Earlier, the director of DRTS thanked his visitors and for coming up with a beautiful initiative that would contribute in no small measures to reducing accidents on FCT roads.

Bello said that expired tyres contribute much to the number of road accidents experienced across the country.

The director told his visitors that the directorate is very friendly and had continued to encourage motorists to feel free to transact their lawful businesses without any fear or favour.

“I advise you; report any staff who fails to perform his or her duty professionally to the directorate for disciplinary actions.

“The levels at which inspection of vehicles is done in the nation’s capital is that, tyres that are road worthy are detected and the ones that are not are also found out.

“Hence explanations are issued to the owners and the need for them to avoid its continued usage considering the dangers they pose to the users of the vehicle and the commuters alike.

“I’m not comfortable with the idea of retrieving tyres or marking them as the owners may’’ still put them to other uses. A team is to be constituted to look at how it can be handled.

Bello explained some of the successes recorded by the service to the visitors, “especially in the area of Information Technology which had made it possible for people to access its services at the comfort of their homes or offices,” he said.

He said this was achieved during the lockdown in 2020 as a result of COVID-19 pandemic which drastically reduced human interference in most of the services of the directorate.

“The same feat is about to be achieved on traffic monitoring where Artificial Intelligence (AI) cameras will soon be picking up every traffic infraction.

“Thereby, removing our personnel from the road to monitor traffic offenders, exactly the way it is done in most advanced countries of the world. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
