Rundu police seeking vehicle stolen from Millennium Park


RUNDU: The police in the Kavango East Region are investigating a case of motor vehicle theft, after a Volkswagen T-Cross was reportedly stolen from the Millennium Park residential area in Rundu on Saturday.

The Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator in the region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Monday that the incident happened around 04h00.

It is alleged that the owner parked his car at his house in Millennium Park after arriving there with a friend on Friday night, only to discover the car missing in the morning.

He allegedly called this friend on his cellphone several times but could not reach him. He alleges that the friend drove away with his vehicle without his consent.

The vehicle is valued at N.dollars 339 000.

No arrest has been made and police investigation continues.

In an unrelated incident also on Saturday, two males aged 18 and 19 were arrested for robbing a 26-year-old man of his luggage and N.dollars 3 800 in cash at a service station at Rundu.

The
incident happened also around 04h00, just as the complainant arrived from Otjiwarongo. The two suspects allegedly grabbed the victim’s luggage and ran away but were apprehended the same day.

They were set to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
