The Association for New Cultural and Artistic Revival (ARCAN) launched its ‘Guardian of our Values’ (GAVAL) project on August 16, 2024. The ceremony was held under the presidency of Issouf Sawadogo, technical advisor representing the Governor of the Northern region.
Since 2017, the Association for New Cultural and Artistic Recovery has been engaged in the fight against violent extremism through projects to strengthen the capacities of young people on social cohesion and resilience.
The ‘Guardian of our values’ (GAVAL) project, supported by ARCAN and launched this Friday, August 16, is a continuation of these awareness-raising, training and sound information actions on cultural and democratic values ??in the municipalities. of Kaya and Ouahigouya.
GAVAL aims to strengthen the capacities of young people and women by establishing a sound training and information framework, focused on cultural and democratic values.
According to Germain Ouédraogo, director of the association and promoter of the project, it i
s a question of training and equipping young people to lead them to explore the traditional and cultural values ??of democracy.
According to Mr. Ouédraogo, the project will notably carry out action research, carry out a study to develop a local map of the cultural and traditional values ??of democracy, and train around sixty young people on citizen participation and themes linked to living together. .
Issouf Sawadogo, technical advisor, on behalf of the head of the region, congratulated ARCAN for its multiple actions on the ground in a difficult security and humanitarian context.
He thanked the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium, which, through its ‘Civic Space’ project, understood the relevance of the project by supporting ARCAN technically and financially.
Mr. Sawadogo assured the members of the association of the support of the administration throughout the 21 months of implementation of the project to achieve the targeted objectives.
