Gov. Radda Outlines Transformation of Institutions and MSMEs in Katsina

Katsina: Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State has provided a detailed account of how his administration has been transforming institutions and strengthening Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state over the past two years. Radda highlighted several strategic initiatives aimed at fostering economic growth and job creation.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Gov. Radda stated that his administration has established a N5.5 billion MSMEs Fund through the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA). This fund is intended to deliver training, financial support, and a digital database for MSMEs and skills development within the state. Radda emphasized the critical role MSMEs play in the economy, contributing over 49 percent to the nation’s nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and providing more than 80 percent of jobs.

The governor noted that the youth in Katsina have increasingly embraced MSMEs, driven by innovation and technology, particularly in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. He observed that about 80 percent of these young entrepreneurs are women, and with adequate support, they have the potential to expand into significant enterprises. Radda remarked on the importance of MSMEs in improving living standards by increasing income and reducing poverty.

In addition to MSME initiatives, Radda shared that his administration has invested N5 billion in upgrading the Katsina Youths Craft Village and has implemented a five-year strategic plan along with setting up common facility centers. The administration is also committed to institutional transformation, focusing on infrastructure development, renewable energy projects, and strategic partnerships to enhance the state’s economy and create jobs.

Radda concluded by discussing the broader goals of his administration to transform institutional systems and change public mindsets. He emphasized the importance of reforming institutions to achieve effective physical reforms and fulfill the promises made to the people of Katsina.
