The Dialogue and Citizen Monitoring Committee (CDVC) of Houndé organized, on Friday August 9, 2024, a forum for the active forces of the city of Houndé. On this occasion, he took stock of the discussions-debates held with the city’s populations on the Mining Development Fund and its projects.
The Dialogue and Citizen Monitoring Committee (CDVC) of Houndé presented the results of the discussions-debates organized with the populations of the town as part of the project: ‘For a peaceful climate for mining in the commune of Houndé, let us popularize the seven (7) tranches of the Mining Development Fund and its projects’.
It was during a meeting held on Friday August 9, 2024 in Houndé with the city’s Forces Vives.
The president of CDVC-Houndé, Adama Traoré, thanked the Support for Peace Initiatives in the Sahel (SIPaS) and the Association for the Promotion of Non-Formal Education (APENF) whose support and accompaniment enabled the project to see the light of day.
According to him, the discussions-debates with
the populations consisted of presenting, in the five sectors of the city, the different tranches of the Mining Development Fund received by the municipality and the projects carried out.
He indicated that these discussions-debates generated a lot of enthusiasm and were an opportunity to gather the priority needs of the populations.
Among all the needs expressed, the problem of water was the one that came up most frequently. However, he deplored the lack of awareness of the Mining Fund projects by the populations.
In the report he presented, it appears that in total, 123 projects were proposed by the Houndé Mining Fund from 2020 to 2024. He cited, among other things, the construction of 120 classes, 4 health centers and social promotion (CSPS), 30 independent water stations (PEA), 253 shops, 3 markets, developed areas, the installation of street lights, traffic lights, and parking.
Added to this are projects such as the construction of gutters and a bus station.
Mr. Traoré stressed that among these projec
ts, some have been completed and others are in progress.
Concerning the shortcomings, he noted the non-startup of certain projects, the poor monitoring of construction sites, and the abandonment of certain infrastructures.
As for the prospects, Adama Traoré mentioned the asphalting of the Houndé-Sara-Békuy departmental road, the restructuring of undeveloped areas in the five sectors of the city, and information on the mining license.
During the discussions, the active forces congratulated the CDVC for its citizen monitoring actions and the search for a peaceful climate in Houndé.
The president of CDVC-Houndé invited the populations to make citizen monitoring a reality.
‘The populations, individually or in groups, by village or by sector, must be able to monitor what is being done in their city. That they can monitor during and after the achievements, whether they are carried out with mining funds or with their own funds, so that citizen monitoring is a reality,’ he maintained.
