Body of girl killed by crocodile at Hoha village retrieved

The body of a seven-year-old girl who was attacked and killed by a crocodile at Hoha village in the Kavango East Region last Thursday, has been retrieved.

The Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator in the region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Tuesday the girl’s body was retrieved from the same place where she was attacked Sunday afternoon.

She has been identified as Rosvitha Mukerenge.

Kanyetu said Mukerenge was attacked and killed while bathing in the river.

The body had multiple injuries on the right leg and right ribs.

Mukerenge’sremains were transported to the Nyangana District Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

Her next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.

In an unrelated incident, a 24-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for the rape of a nine-year-old girl at Mururani, in the Kavango West Region. According to the crime report by the Namibian Police Force in the Kavango West Region issued on Tuesday, the suspect entered the girl’s bedroom around midnight and allegedly raped her.

Police investigations continue.
