Angola available to boost cooperation with Rwanda

Angolan Government expressed Monday its availability and commitment to reinforce cooperation ties with Rwanda, with stress to economic, commercial, political-diplomatic and cultural areas.

The country’s will was expressed during an audience the President João Lourenço granted to the outgoing ambassador of Rwanda, Wellars Gasamagera.

The meeting allowed Rwandan diplomat to present farewell greetings to the Angolan statesman, after three and a half years term in the country.

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, the Rwandan diplomat considered the cooperation relations with Angola “excellent”, taking into account the regular political consultations between the two countries on matters of stability and peace in the countries of the Great Lakes region.

“We have also held political consultations at regional and international level”, said Wellars Gasamagera, who highlighted the importance of the legal instruments between both countries.

Angola and Rwanda signed nine legal instruments, including agreements to avoid double taxation, extradition, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, transfer of convicted persons, memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of Agriculture and Livestock development.

Stress went also to the memoranda of understanding on Local Government, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Health Cooperation, as well as the memorandum of understanding on the National School of Administration and Public Policy and the Institute of Management of Rwanda.
