Warri: The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the resumption of the Warri-Itakpe Train Service on Wednesday, following a temporary suspension to conduct essential repairs and maintenance.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, Managing Director of NRC, confirmed in a statement that the suspension was crucial for ensuring the safety, reliability, and comfort of passengers by performing critical repairs and system checks on both the track and rolling stock. The online booking portal for the service will be accessible from noon on Monday, approximately 48 hours before the service resumes. Passengers are encouraged to book their tickets early through the portal or at designated stations.
Opeifa mentioned that operations will restart with seven coaches, including six standard classes and one business class. A new timetable, incorporating temporary speed restrictions for enhanced safety and operational monitoring, is also scheduled to be released on Monday. He expressed the corporation’s apologies for the inconvenience caused during the suspension and extended gratitude to passengers and stakeholders for their patience and understanding during this period.
