Zaire: OMA wants more women in electoral registration posts

The 2nd ordinary meeting of the Provincial Committee of the ruling party’s women wing in Zaire (OMA) on Tuesday in Mbanza Congo recommended the need for women members to redouble awareness actions of women’s access to electoral registration posts, with view to the general elections set for this year.

The final communique of the meeting, chaired by the OMA provincial secretary, Maria da EncarnacAPound o Fernandes, and sent to Angop on Wednesday, urges the militants, in particular, and the population in general, to regard the electoral registration as one of the priorities for the country.

The members of the provincial committee concluded that decisions made at the ordinary meeting of OMA National Executive Secretariat should be rigorous.

At the end of the meeting, the participants approved two motions, one to support the MPLA president, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, and the other to thank the singular and collective entities that directly or indirectly contributed to the success of the event.

The coordinator of the monitoring group of OMA National Executive Secretariat to Zaire province, Josefina Ndesipewa Gomes, attended the event.
