Vice President recommends hard work in higher education

Manuel Vicente stressed the need of hard work Friday in Caxito, northern Bengo province, when he chaired the opening ceremony of the 2017 Academic Year in Higher Education.

According to him, each institution should ensure the full functionality of the structures and the quality of services that meet the highest standards of requirements.

Aspects like organisation and management, training, scientific research and university extension must be secured, the official said.

The Vice president also highlighted the number of students that reached in 2016 a universe of 241, 284, an increase of 9.2% compared to 2015.

In 2015, some 14, 735 citizens successfully completed their degree, corresponding to an increase of 18.9 percent compared to the previous year.

“For this year, 111, 086 places were available in the Higher Education system,” said the Vice president, stressing that he hoped the quantitative growth be accompanied by efforts to promote quality.

Meanwhile, the Vice-President called on students, teachers, managers and promoters for combined efforts aimed to ban the emergence of unauthorised courses” and “educational institutions” alongside the State-run institutions.

The Vice president also recommended the academic community and partners promotion of rigor, dialogue and consultation, aiming to improve the quality of higher education.
