A workshop to develop the communication strategy and implement a certified digital platform for web TV broadcasting of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), opened its work this Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Bamako, Mali under the presidency of the Malian Minister of Communication, Digital Economy and Modernization of the Administration.
This workshop brings together several communication and digital experts who will focus on the main areas of AES communication to meet the information and communication needs of the populations of Burkina, Mali and Niger.
Thus, the participants in this workshop will discuss the terms of reference for the development of the Communication strategy and exchange on the timeline of common switching actions for the development and interests of the three countries.
The establishment of the architecture of collective defense and mutual assistance, in response to the common challenges of the three countries, by the signing on September 16, 2023 of the Liptako-Gourma Charter, establish
ing the Alliance of Sahel States ( AES) marks the starting point of this shared desire and united African leadership. It aims to establish a cooperation mechanism geared towards the Confederation of the three States and the socio-economic integration of the peoples of the Alliance.
To this end, AES communication must take place in an environment largely occupied on social networks by platforms which disseminate information on behalf of the Alliance.
Also, to do this, the AES must communicate in order to confront the informational war imposed on it, reassure and encourage its populations in order to obtain their support and support for the efforts of the Authorities of the three countries to achieve the objectives set and be heard and understood by the international community.
Remember that the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) is a confederation bringing together three countries (Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger). It was born from the political will of the heads of state of the countries to create an African spac
e of sovereignty on the security, political, geostrategic and economic levels.
It was set up in an environment of hostility and strong political and security tension, and is an instrument for pooling capacities which arouses hope and enthusiasm among the populations and among Pan-Africans.
The AES should be supported by a real communication strategy oriented, on the one hand towards local populations to strengthen their resilience in the face of internal and external shocks and, on the other hand, towards an international community increasingly subject to diktat of certain powers.
