President Nyusi to visit US, hold official talks with Tillerson

Maputo – Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi is expected in the United States of America on Tuesday for a two-day working visit and will attend the 11th US-Africa Biennial Summit and the Parliamentary Forum between the Corporate Council for Africa and congressmen, APA can report on Monday.

According to a presidential statement on Monday, Nyusi’s visit to the US is “within the framework of the consolidation and deepening of bilateral and international relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and will provide an opportunity to define strategies for strengthening political, economic and business relations.”

It said Nyusi was also expected to hold official talks with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson as well as meet other members of the US government.

He is due to hold meetings with economic, financial and scientific institutions, in addition to granting hearings to various individuals in that country.

The Mozambican leader would be accompanied by Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister Oldemiro Baloi, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Jose Pacheco, Home Affairs Minister Adelaide Amurane, Industry and Commerce Minister Max Tonela, Deputy Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Augusto Fernando and the governor of the Bank of Mozambique, Rogerio Zandamela.
