Parliament General Secretariat to assist Portuguese counterpart

Luanda – The Secretariat General of the National Assembly (AN) is available to assist its Portuguese counterpart in the areas where it is convenient, with a view to guaranteeing the necessary tools for the representatives of both countries to carry out the their tasks without constraints.

The desire was expressed on Thursday by the secretary general of the Angolan parliament, Pedro Agostinho de Neri, when signing a bilateral cooperation agreement, under the exchange of experiences between the two secretariats-general of parliaments.

He said that “the responsibility in this matter is enormous and decisive, so that the life of the National Assembly is fluid and productive, so that the parliamentary community feels more and more available to serve the interests of the Nation”.

On the other hand, Pedro de Neri stressed the challenges posed to the Angolan and Portuguese parliamentary administrations, which, in his view, require an exchange of experience and a process of permanent learning.

He recalled that two years ago, the two institutions signed a cooperation agreement, in which they listed a number of activities, relevant to the areas of communication technologies, parliamentary support and public relations.

In this regard, Agostinho de Neri justified that the renewal of the agreement aims for the exchange of experiences and knowledge of both parties, seeking points of convergence that can improve the provision of support services to the MPs of the two countries.

The protocol, signed by the respective secretaries-general of the parliaments of Angola and Portugal, Pedro de Neri and Albino de Azevedo Soares, respectively, renews the previous one assumed two years ago, in the technical and administrative domains.

The event was preceded by a private meeting between Pedro de Neri and Albino de Azevedo Soares, which aimed to evaluate the first agreement signed two years ago, and envisage other actions for the next two years.
