Olympics: IOC President in Luanda

Luanda – The president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, is paying since Thursday a 24-hour working visit to the country, aimed at assessing the state of development of the national sport.

At his arrival in Luanda’s 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the IOC official was welcomed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Albino da ConceicAPound o Jose, flanked, among others, by the president of the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA), Gustavo da ConceicAPound o.

Coming from Djibouti, where he attended the election of the Secretary General of the African Olympic Committees (ACNOA), followed by a short trip in Mozambique, Thomas Back had an official dinner on Thursday.

09h30 – Meeting with Minister of Youth and Sports (Olympic Academy)

10:00 am – Signing of the Memorandum between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and COA (Sports Gallery).

11:30 am – Audience with Vice-president of the Republic, Manuel Vicente

Bach is the second president of IOC to visit the country, after Juan Antonio Samaranch.
