NEW AMBASSADORS FROM MOZAMBIQUE, ITALY PRESENT CREDENTIALS TO ZIMBABWEAN PRESIDENT

HARARE– Two new ambassadors from Mozambique and Italy have presented their credentials to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House here.

First to present his letters of credence Thursday was Maputo’s new top diplomat in Harare, Francisco Cigarro, who told the media later that Zimbabwe and Mozambique were bound historically and culturally and Maputo was looking forward to strengthening bilateral economic ties.

Zimbabwe is entering a new dispensation and Mozambique would like to be a strong partner of Zimbabwe, he said. I know that the President of Zimbabwe is very keen to engage other countries in economic development so Mozambique will partner Zimbabwe.

He said the two countries would pursue projects in the energy, infrastructure and telecommunications sectors.

New Italian Ambassador Carlo Perrotta said his country was ready for a stronger relationship with Zimbabwe.

There is a long history of co-operation between our two countries and I am looking forward to working on building even stronger ties, he added.
