National Assembly holds Tuesday third Extraordinary Plenary Meeting

Luanda – The 3rd Extraordinary Plenary Meeting of the National Assembly will be held Tuesday at the Angolan Parliament, with one of the highlights being the inauguration ceremony of the candidate appointed by the Higher Council of the Judiciary to the position of Chairperson of the National Electoral Commission (CNE).

Judge Andre da Silva Neto, current Chairperson of the CNE, will be inaugurated and reappointed to a new five-year term as the independent body responsible for organizing, executing, coordinating and conducting electoral processes in Angola.

The working agenda called by the National Assembly Speaker, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, which also includes the final overall vote on the bill of the General Advertisement Law and the Law on Amendment to the Law of Advocacy and the approving of Draft Resolution for ratification by the President of the Republic as well as the African Charter on Maritime Transport.

The working session will also deal with voted on draft resolutions approving the Ombudsman’s Annual Activity Report for the year 2015 and Resolution approving the replacement of the appointed member for the National Electoral Commission at the request of the FNLA opposition party.

The MPs will also analyze and vote on the Draft Resolution approving the replacement of the appointed members for Provincial and Municipal Electoral Commissions, at the request of the ruling MPLA party and FNLA opposition party as well as the Draft Resolution approving the correction of the names of members of Municipal elections commissions at the request of ruling MPLA party and UNITA main opposition party.
