Namibe can boost foreign exchange generation with rock production

The production of ornamental stones and other mineral resources that the south-east Namibe province can boost foreign exchange generation for the growth of the construction and manufacturing sectors.

This was said to the press on Monday by the Industry Minister, Bernarda Martins, at the end of a visit she paid to manufacturing plants in Namibe.

According to her, the existing resources may, in the medium and long term, contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

About the tomato processing plant, installed in MocAmedes city, the official said that it is ready to go into operation this year, waiting only for administrative procedures.

Industrial activity in Namibe is limited to the processing of agricultural, fishery, livestock and forestry products, as well as the extraction and processing of ornamental stones.
