MPLA wants cheaper public works

Luanda – The ruling MPLA’s candidate for President of the Republic in this August’s general elections, JoAPound o Lourenco, said on Saturday, in Luanda, that if they win the poll his party will take measures intended to cause a drop in the costs of infrastructures and construction contract jobs.

“We have to able to reduce considerably the (construction) price by road kilometres, the square kilometre in housing construction, above all for social houses”, said the politician, when delivering a speech at a rally, held in Cazenga Municipality, and which served to present him as presidential candidate to the electorate in Luanda Province.

JoAPound o Lourenco said that it is necessary to create conditions for construction materials to be produced in the country, “instead of importing them, thus financing other economies”.

“With cheaper construction contract jobs, we will, with the same resources, build more roads, bridges, dams, schools and, above all, more social houses”, the MPLA presidential candidate assured.

JoAPound o Lourenco – a member of the governing party’s politburo, the current vice president of the party and National Defence minister – has already been presented to the electorate in the provinces of Huila, Lunda Norte and Bie.
