MPLA party re-elected as vice president of Socialist International

Luanda – Angola?s governing party, MPLA, was elected last Wednesday in Cartagena City, Colombia, for a third term as vice president of the Socialist International (SI), during the 25th congress of this organisation, which ended last Saturday.

A note issued by the MPLA’s information and propaganda department states that the party is represented in the SI board by its secretary for international relations, JuliAPound o Mateus Paulo “Dino Matrosse”, who led the party’s delegation to the event.

The MPLA delegation also included two members of its Central Committee, namely Pedro Chaves and JoAPound o dos Santos Neto “Jane”.

Dino Matrosse’s intervention in the event, in regard to the peace topic, coincided with the speech delivered by the Colombian Head of State, Juan Manuel Santos, who was distinguished in 2016 with the Nobel Peace Price for his efforts to put an end to the civil war in Colombia.

The same session also elected the Greek George Papandreou (re-elected) as president of the SI, the Chilean Luis Ayala (re-elected) as secretary-general and 31 vice presidents that represent all the regions of the world.
