Mozambique: Solidarity campaign raises Akz 20 million

In addition to the said amount, the campaign also led to the collection of more than 100 tons of various goods, such as the construction materials, hospital equipment and basic products.

The announcement was made Saturday in Luanda by the coordinator of the campaign, Cabingano Manuel, adding that the product collected during one-month campaign will be delivered to the Mozambican authorities on May 2 in Beira city which suffered the brunt of the cyclone.

Speaking to Angop on Saturday, the official praised the citizens affected by the cause, thanking the engagement of all those who contributed to the success of this solidarity with the brothers of the Indian Ocean.

The more than five-hour solidarity show marked the closing of the campaign held across the country.

Angola/Mozambique solidarity show brought together musicians from both countries.

In addition to Cyclone Idai, which until March killed around 1,000 people in the center of the country and in Zimbabwe, Mozambique is also being affected by Cyclone Kenneth.

Cyclone Kenneth has killed five people, destroyed approximately 3,300 houses and about 18,000 people who took refuge in emergency shelters.
