Mozambique/Idai: INEM sends a field hospital, 28 professionals

According to a note from INEM delivered to Lusa, the decision followed a survey conducted by the teams in Mozambique’s Beira city, ravaged Cyclone Idai.

The document also indicates that three professionals from the institute have joined the reconnaissance teams and the task force deployed in Mozambique last week and coordinated by the National Civil Protection Authority.

The INEM emergency medical module – called a field hospital – had received World Health Organisation consent last week and could integrate humanitarian response missions into major accidents or major disasters, under international plan.

The field hospital and its team of 28 professionals aimed to provide health care to populations affected by emergencies or complex disasters.

Six physicians are among the 28 professionals, a pediatrician, an infectious diseases expert, two internal doctors, a medical specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation and a surgeon.
