According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, which reached Angop on Monday, the head of the Angolan diplomacy arrived Saturday, February 25, and was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukri.

With that authority, the note said, he reviewed the cooperation between the two countries, the results of the last summit of the African Union, as well as the objectives of the workshop on peace and security in the Great Lakes Region, organized by Egypt.

The two leaders defended at the meeting the identification of areas or sectors considered as priorities.

Bilateral meetings between Luanda and Cairo have also been emphasized to ensure full cooperation with a greater focus on economic development.

The Foreign Minister and his Egyptian counterpart agreed to hold a business forum between businesspeople of both countries.

The audience was attended by the Angolan ambassador to Egypt, Tony da Costa Fernandes, and Miguel Bembe, adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Prior to moving to Cairo, Georges Chikoti was in Dar-es-Salam, United Republic of Tanzania, where he participated in the SADC Inter-State Policy and Diplomacy Committee meeting, which was held on Friday 24 February.

In the Tanzanian capital, he participated in a meeting that, among other things, assessed the political, defense and security situation in the SADC region, and took note of recent events in DRC and Lesotho.
