Ouagadougou: The Association of former seminarians of Baskouré (AASB), initiated on Saturday August 3, 2024 in the grounds of the Saint Augustin minor seminary of Baskouré, a planting session of around sixty trees.
Around sixty mango trees and around forty tangelo trees were planted on Saturday August 3, 2024, within the grounds of the said seminar.
According to the president of the association, Denis Dawendé, this initiative aims to contribute to the influence of the nature of their former home, and to strengthen the bond of solidarity and cohesion between the different promotions.
‘This event called the day of the former seminarians of Baskouré wants the different promotions who have passed through the seminary to be able to return to this house which has seen us grow, in order to see to what extent they can take an action which could further facilitate the life of the house for future promotions,’ he said.
The President of the Association invited other alumni to get more involved in this fight.

e director of the Saint Augustin minor seminary in Baskouré, Abbot Roland Sandwidi, the initiative is to be welcomed and shows that the association still has a thought for this former training house.
‘This is the first time that we have met here to plant trees to give the seminary its former greenery and we are delighted,’ said the director.
He thanked the association for effectively holding the activity at the Saint Augustin minor seminary in Baskouré.
‘On behalf of the entire house, I reiterate all our gratitude to the friend for what he has done for this house, thank you again for this recognition,’ he added.
Placide Nadembèga, representative of the sponsors, was delighted with the mark of recognition from the alumni of the minor seminary of Baskouré.
He also invited the absent former seminarians to demonstrate their commitment to the activities of the association of former seminarians of Baskouré.
‘It is only a feeling of satisfaction that motivates us to see the alumni of the minor seminary of Bask
ouré come together to relive good times and stories. The association’s office sounded the alarm and we did not hesitate to respond favorably and hurry to be there. We realize that the call has been heard given the mobilization and enthusiasm around the event,’ added Mr. Nadembèga.
Jonas Guiatin, congratulated the association’s office in the hope that these activities will last for a long time.
‘We see that the youngest and the oldest rub shoulders, as well as those who have become priests and their promotion priests and that is really a source of pride for us. I appeal to the association to always think about these activities which contribute to strengthening this solidarity between us. I express all my gratitude to this house which gave us everything and until now, we are still receiving, he declared.
Alongside the tree planting, two conferences were presented to the assembly.
The first was presented by Jacques Kaboré on the theme: ‘Solidarity and Networking between Members of the Association’ and the se
cond on: ‘Notion of artificial intelligence to remain an informed believer’ under the leadership of the speaker Dr. Tegawendé F. Bisyandé and the former seminarians of Baskouré.
