Ouagadougou: A mass of thanksgiving was celebrated on Sunday August 4, 2024 at the Saint Augustin minor seminary of Baskouré, on the occasion of the meeting of the alumni of the Saint Augustin minor seminary of Baskouré. Organized by the Association of Alumni of the Petit Séminaire Saint Augustin de Baskouré (AASB), the mass was presided over by Archbishop Emeritus Monseigneur Séraphin François Rouamba, in the presence of priests and former seminarians.
It was with songs of thanksgiving that the former tenants of the Saint Augustin minor seminary in Baskouré ended their reunion, followed by a thanksgiving mass, on Sunday August 4, 2024.
The meeting was an opportunity for them to share memories and experiences.
According to the president of the Association of former seminarians, Denis Dawendé, the office of the association was set up to allow everyone to find old friends and then to be able to support the Saint Augustin minor seminary of Baskouré, the house that gave them everything.
‘We set up this office
because we all passed through this house, and for this house to still exist, we former residents must support it,’ he said.
The director of the Saint Augustin minor seminary in Baskouré, Abbot Laurent Sandwidi, welcomed the initiative of the association and was delighted with the work that these elders did for the seminary.
‘The initiative is very good and should be welcomed. I am very happy that these former seminarians have returned to show their fraternities, and also to help the seminary in their own way,’ indicated the director.
Placide Nadembèga, a former seminarian, called on his fellow former seminarians to work so that the Association can remain.
‘This is a very positive assessment because since yesterday we met and we have carried out quite a few activities together and I am really happy with this initiative,’ added Mr. Nadembèga.
For the Archbishop Emeritus, Mgr Séraphin François Rouamba, the meeting will allow these elders to go back to basics.
At the end of the thanksgiving mass, the presid
ent of the Association Dénis Dawendé presented a certificate of recognition to the Archbishop Emeritus Mgr Séraphin François Rouamba.
