Italy wants to increase parliamentary cooperation with Angola

Rome – The head of the International Relations Department of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, Giovanni Rizzoni, manifested the interest of his country in relaunching the parliamentary cooperation with Angola, Angop learnt on Wednesday from a diplomatic source.

According to the source, for this purpose it is foreseen a visit of the Angolan National Assembly Speaker, Fernando da Piedade Dia dos Santos, to Italy with view to giving a

new boost to this intended cooperation.

The source also said that the Angolan ambassador to Italy, FlorA�ncio de Almeida, has recently discussed this subject with Giovanni Rizzoni, aimed at resuming the cooperation protocol

signed in 1998.

To him, the dates for the visit of the Angolan Speaker will be agreed between the two parties, which may take place in the first quarter of this year.

Meanwhile, the Italian MP expressed the willingness of the Italian Chamber of Deputies of reviewing the cooperation protocol and the terms for its implementation.

The protocol provides, among others, for the cooperation in the sectors of human and material resources management, research and information handling on legislation, as well as the management of parliamentary external relations.
