IOC CHALLENGES AFRICANS TO HOST OLYMPIC GAMES

LUANDA, The president of International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, challenged Friday in Luanda the African countries to submit their application to host Olympic Games.

He stated that African countries have potential, such as athletes and infrastructures.

In Angola for a one-day working visit, the IOC official reaffirmed his personal interest in seeing Africa to host an edition of the Olympic Games.

He expressed satisfaction at the level of relations between the National Olympic Committee and Angolan Government, which, according to him, contribute to the development of sport in the country in its various dimensions.

We have come to assess the kind of the assistance we can offer to Angolan athletes who qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

The intention is to ensure the country’s win as many medals as possible, said the German who replaced the Belgian Jacques Rogge in 2013.

Thomas Bach was born in Wurzburg, Germany, on December 29, 1953.
