Handball: FAAND president predicts improvement in world cup

Luanda – The president of Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND), Pedro Godinho, said Wednesday the national senior women’s handball team have the possibility to improve the 16th place in the world championship taking place from 1 – 17 December in Germany.

Commenting on the outcome of the draw for the 23rd World Cup, Pedro Godinho said that the group Angola share with Romania, Slovenia, Paraguay, France and Spain allow them to eye the victory in the first phase.

“If we do a good work from home we can beat Slovenia and Paraguay who are opponents with whom we can balance games and think about victory,” he said.

According to him, despite the financial constraints, his squad are looking forward to creating the best conditions for Angola to climb some stairs in the league table.

Angola ranked 16th during the world cup in Serbia in 2015.
