Gwagwalada: Some residents of Gwagwalada Area Council have commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, for the ongoing rehabilitation of roads and improvements in infrastructure. They noted that the projects were already boosting economic activities in the district and improving ease of movement for residents and businesses alike.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the residents expressed their views in an interview on the sidelines of the official commissioning of the newly rehabilitated 10-kilometre roads in the area. They expressed optimism that the improved infrastructure would ease transportation, enhance business activities, and contribute to the overall development of Gwagwalada. They further emphasized that the renewed focus on road infrastructure would significantly ease movement, improve access to markets, and foster growth across the council.
Mr. Onyema Uzoechi, a businessman, described the road rehabilitation as ‘unprecedented,’ noting that the roads, especially the market road, had been in a deplorable state for years, severely affecting trade and movement. He highlighted the challenges faced before the rehabilitation, particularly during the rainy season, and expressed delight with the development, urging the minister to consider other roads in the council.
Similarly, Mr. Suleman Abdulhamid, a motorcyclist, mentioned that the improved roads had boosted his daily earnings. He recounted how he used to avoid certain routes due to their poor condition, which affected his business, and praised the minister for prioritizing infrastructure.
The President of the FCT Market Women and Men Association, Mrs. Sarauniya Erondu, also expressed gratitude towards the minister for addressing the concerns of FCT residents. She noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu was gradually being realized through Wike’s interventions. She also appealed for women’s empowerment and support for small traders.
NAN reports that the roads rehabilitated include Aguma Palace Road, Radio Nigeria Road, New Market Road, and other connecting routes.
