Electoral commission role in political stability highlighted

Luanda – The chairperson of National Electoral Commission (CNE), Andre da Silva Neto, has stressed the role of the election body in political and social stability, as well as in strengthening and consolidation of democracy in the country.

Andre da Silva Neto was speaking at the opening ceremony of the National Methodological Meeting on Elections, running until Friday (17).

The meeting is gathering national commissioners, chairperson of the provincial commissions and other members of CNE.

The official said that these conditions are necessary to ensure transparent and credible elections.

He said that it is necessary to maintain a dialogue and interaction with the main political actors and with those who, directly or indirectly, cooperate in the preparation and execution of the electoral process under way.

Andre da Silva Neto considered the National Methodological Meeting an important landmark for strengthening the capacity to deal with all situations by the parties.

In addition to provide training to CNE staff, the event aims at approaching the 2017 Activities Plan and the role of the Constitutional Court in electoral processes.
