District No. 6 of Bobo-Dioulasso organized a reforestation session on Saturday, August 17, 2024 on the green network site in sector No. 18 of the city. A total of 350 trees were planted by the population.
District No. 6 of Bobo-Dioulasso responded to the call of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Troaré, for a “green Burkina” . Indeed, at the initiative of the special delegation of this district, the populations, equipped with pickaxes and dabas, stormed the green frame of sector 18 of the city opposite the private high school Sya Sanou this Saturday, August 17, 2024 where they planted 350 plants.
This action also follows the invitation of the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Bobo-Dioulasso, Laurent Koutougou Kontogom, to all the PDS of the districts, and to the economic operators of the city, to carry out reforestation activities. ” The importance of the tree for our life is no longer to be demonstrated. Nature is overheating due to man and to survive this climate change, we
must plant usefully” , indicated the president of the special delegation of district n°6, Salamata Sinaré, on the importance of the tree.
To ensure a chance of survival for the planted trees, Ms. Sinaré said that the 350 plants will be monitored by the population. To do this, a borehole is planned on the site for the maintenance of these trees during the dry season. ” We plan to install a borehole and a castle to facilitate watering. But before the town hall can install the borehole, we made a commitment with the founder of the Sya Sanou high school, to be able to use his borehole as soon as there is a pocket of drought for watering ,” said Ms. Sinaré. In this dynamic, the PDS invited people of good will to support the district for the enclosure of the site with wire mesh.
Convinced that industrial activity is a major source of pollution, Salamata Sinaré called for the involvement and social responsibility of companies located in the industrial zone of the district for environmental protection actions. Thes
e companies, she said, must become aware of the need to protect and preserve this green network.
