Debate on Criminal Code Bill Continues

The rapporteur of the Commission for Legal and Constitutional Affairs of the National Assembly, Vigilio Adriano Tyova, praised the debate.

According to him, the MPs positively welcomed the innovative solutions contained in the Code.

Speaking to ANGOP and News Paper (Jornal de Angola) at the end of the meeting, the MP highlighted the aspects like greater humanisation, reintegration of prisoners, above all, the treatment they receive after being detained.

The jail is not the solution to tackle the society’s issue, he said, adding that many inmates end up leaving the jail facilities without being re-educated rather becoming even more frustrated in most cases.

Chaired by the Vice- Chairperson of the Commission for Legal and Constitutional Affairs of National Assembly, Emilio Homem, the debates will continue on Monday, March 6.
