Cuando Cubango: Over 3000 firearms collected in nine years

Menongue – At least 3 644 weapons were collected in southeast Cuando Cubango province from 2008 to 2017, said Friday Chief Superintendent of National Police.

Antonio Cadia Lumbo was speaking on the sidelines of the destruction of obsolete armaments.

The Chief Superintendent said that the collection process was carried out in four stages.

The first stage consisted of organising and raising awareness. The second focused on voluntary delivery, while the third in compulsory collection.

This period, he said, culminated in the destruction of 1,879 weapons and 2,778 different explosive devices.

The last phase was meant to control and taking stock of collected firearms.
