Council of Ministers approves report on Electoral Registration

Luanda – The Council of Ministers on Wednesday approved the Report on the conclusion of the electoral registration update for the period 2016/2017.

This fact is contained in the final communique of the meeting led by the President of the Republic, Jose Eduardo dos Santos.

The document describes how the massive campaign to update the electoral register was divided into two phases, with the first one carried out in the period from 25 August 2016 to 20 December of the same year, and the second from 5 January to 31 March of 2017.

He welcomed the results and the high level of participation of citizen voters and the performance of the voter agents, civic education agents and all natural and public entities, public or private, who in a way contributed to the success of the electoral process.

Regarding the fiscal issues the Council of Ministers considered a proposal for a Law on Amendment to the General Tax Code which provides that, exceptionally, at the request of the taxpayer or ex officio, the tax may be settled and paid in foreign currency in cases where a determined percentage of the total income Of the taxpayer has been in foreign currency.
