Chiumbue is unequivocal proof of Government’s commitment to population

Saurimo – The provincial governor of eastern Lunda Sul province, CAndida Narciso, acknowledged Wednesday that the hydroelectric dam on the Chiumbue River, located in the municipality of Dala, is an unequivocal proof of the government engagement to improve the social conditions of the population.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of Tchiumbue dam, by National Defense Minister JoAPound o Lourenco, the governor emphasized that the hydroelectric plant will contribute in some way to improving the quality and lifestyle of the population.

She recalled that after 15 years of effective peace, the gains and benefits are immeasurable, as from the national reconciliation among Angolans to the construction and reconstruction of the country.

According the governor, the construction of the dam is a fair tribute to the freedom fighters, especially those who gave their best in the eastern region, namely Americo Boavida, Quima Kienda, Hoji ya Henda, Nicolau Gomes Spencer, among others, who fought for the conquest of national independence, restoring dignity to the Angolan people.

CAndida Narciso considered it emblematic, since it was the result of the strategic vision of the founder of the nation, Antonio Agostinho Neto, begun in the 1980s, completed by the President of the Republic, Jose Eduardo dos Santos and inaugurated by the Minister of Defense, JoAPound o Lourenco.

The Chihumbwe hydroelectric project has a capacity to generate 12.42 MW and will guarantee electricity supply, to the city of Luena (Moxico province) and the municipality of Dala (Lunda Sul)
