Beijing: President Xi Jinping engaged in a meeting with Mozambican Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levi at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The discussion took place as part of Levi’s visit to China for the Global Leaders Meeting on Women.
According to African Press Organization, President Xi emphasized the enduring friendship between China and Mozambique, which has remained solid over the past 50 years despite international changes. He expressed China’s commitment to supporting Mozambique in choosing its development path, enhancing strategic coordination, and deepening their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. The aim is to make the next five decades of bilateral relations even more significant.
President Xi highlighted China’s willingness to collaborate with Mozambique in various areas, including governmental, political, and legislative cooperation. He also stressed the importance of sharing experiences on governance and implementing outcomes from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit. Further, both countries will focus on comprehensive and coordinated development in energy, mineral resources, and infrastructure. Plans to establish the China Cultural Center in Mozambique are also underway to foster closer ties between their peoples. Additionally, both nations are committed to implementing the Global Governance Initiative, countering unilateralism and hegemonism, and upholding the interests of the Global South.
