Ibadan: The Institute of Capital Market Registrars (ICMR) convened the 2025 Registrars Investors’ Forum in Ibadan to address investor concerns and enhance trust and confidence in the capital market. The event aimed to provide a platform where investors and shareholders could share experiences with service providers.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, ICMR President and Chairman of Council, Mr. Oluseyi Owoturo, emphasized the forum’s purpose as a venue for registrars to engage directly with shareholders and investors, addressing their challenges and offering learning opportunities. The forum, themed ‘Deepening Shareholder Engagement for a Stronger and More Resilient Capital Market,’ aimed to strengthen the relationship between shareholders and capital market stakeholders.
Owoturo highlighted the intention to make this forum an annual event, held regionally across Nigeria, to reach a broader audience of shareholders and investors. He expressed the belief that such efforts could significantly enhance investor experience, trust, and confidence.
Dr. Catherine Nwosu, ICMR President-Elect and Chairman of the Forum Planning Committee, noted that the forum’s theme was strategically chosen to promote trust, participation, and long-term market confidence. She discussed the evolution of the nation’s capital market through regulatory reforms, digital transformation, and a focus on corporate governance, emphasizing the importance of investor confidence in market strength.
Dr. Akeem Oyewale, the Forum Keynote Speaker and Second Vice-President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, advised investors to remain informed about market fundamentals and understand that share prices are influenced by various factors, including government policies and market demand and supply.
