Abuja: The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and the Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Investigators of Nigeria (CIFCFIN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at bolstering public trust in procurement processes. This collaboration seeks to ensure transparency and accountability within government procurement practices.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the statement released by Zira Nagga, Head of Public Relations at BPP, highlighted that the partnership would cultivate a collaborative relationship between the two agencies. The goal is to leverage their combined expertise to address issues such as wastage and misuse of public funds, while promoting efficient service delivery.
Adebowale Adedokun, the Director-General of BPP, emphasized that the MoU marks a pivotal step towards enhancing the capacity of both BPP and CIFCFIN to detect and prevent fraudulent activities in public procurement. Adedokun noted that this partnership would help instill a culture of transparency and accountability across government agencies.
Dr. Yerima Gashinbaki, President of CIFCFIN, praised BPP for its efforts in reforming the procurement sector. Gashinbaki assured that CIFCFIN would extend unwavering support to BPP in implementing the MoU, with a focus on promoting integrity within public procurement practices.
He further commented that this partnership is a crucial advancement towards fostering good governance and accountability in Nigeria’s public sector, with expected benefits for the nation’s economy and development.
