Boxing: Mozambique, Zambia and Mauritius out of zonal IV tournament

Luanda – Athletes from Mozambique, Zambia and Mauritius will not compete in the Southern African Boxing Championship of Zonal IV to take place from 27 April to 1 May, in Lubango city, southern Huila province.

In a competition presentation press conference on Monday in Luanda, the president of the Angolan Boxing Federation (FABOXE), Carlos Luis, said the referred countries pointed out financial issues as the reason behind their absence.

The Angolan official recalled that the organizers were counting on the presence of the aforementioned countries, whose inability to land in Angola due to financial difficulties have already been informed.

He also said the organizers tried to negotiate with Mozambican delegation for the possibility of covering some of their costs, but there was no positive feedback.

The weighing and grouping of the athletes from Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Namibia, Seychelles, Swaziland and Tanzania will take place on April 27.
