Armed forces told to cooperate with other institutions in elections

Luanda – Leaders of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) Friday in Luanda recommended the staff to maintain levels of combative preparedness by cooperating with other bodies to ensure stability and safety in the elections.

This is contained in the final communique of the meeting of FAA leaders that ran from 8 to 10 February, under the motto” Keep Rebuilding FAA to increase the country’s defence capability”.

The event was guided by the Chief of General Staff of Angolan Armed Forces, the Army Gen. Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda.

According to the statement read by FAA spokesman, Lt. Gen. Alberto Kizua, the meeting also recommended the need of increased response capabilities of the FAA.

The objective is guarantee the defence of higher strategic interests of the nation, as well as bet on the training of trainers, the source added.

The participants also defended the need to revamp patriotic education programme, with stress to the deep study on the country’s Constitution, other governing documents of national defence and Armed Forces.

The three-day event also reflected on degree of compliance with the calendar of the main activities, as well as informed on the main governing documents for the 2017 / 2018.

The opening session was chaired by State Secretary for Defence Policy, Gaspar Santos Rufino.
