ANGOLA’S PARLIAMENT SPEAKER MAKING THREE-DAY VISIT TO MOZAMBIQUE

The Speaker of Angola’s National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, has arrived in Maputo for a three-day official visit to Mozambique aimed at charting a new course in the field of parliamentary co-operation between the two countries.

He was received on arrival Maputo International Airport Monday by his Mozambican counterpart, Veronica Nataniel Macamo Dlovo, members of the Mozambican Parliament and other local individuals. Also in the Angolan delegation are National Assembly members Exalgina Gamboa, JoAPound o Pinto and Clarice Kaputo.

While in Mozambique, Piedade Dias dos Santos will be holding meetings with Parliamentary leaders of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, the country’s parliament, from the ruling Frelimo party as well as the opposition parties Renamo and MDM.

In a media statement issued upon his arrival, the Speaker of the Angolan National Assembly referred to the good co-operation relations between the two countries and said that the main objective of his is to strengthen bilateral co-operation.

He emphasized that among the aspects which need to be improved on are strategic co-ordination in international forums in order to defend the interests of both countries.

Veronica Dlovo, said that “expectations are optimal, as we will exchange experiences, particularly in the framework of good practices, which are conducive to better institutional development”.
