Angolan literature present at Africa Day celebration in Portugal

The event, attended by the Angolan ambassador to Portugal, Carlos Alberto Fonseca, also featured an African fashion show representing the African countries represented in the event, namely Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea Bissau, Gabon, Mozambique, Tunisia, Algeria, South Africa, Morocco, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, CAte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Libya, Democratic Republic of Congo and Senegal), including their respective gastronomies.

During the opening of the meeting, Angolan Luzia Moniz, president of the Platform for the Development of African Women, called on the world governments to defend the planet.

She also underlined the strong involvement of his country in the holding of the next EU-Africa summits.

Still in the event, the Portuguese secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Co-operation, Teresa Ribeiro, reaffirmed her country’s support to the development of Africa.

Teresa Ribeiro assured that Portugal will do all it can to persuade European partners to hold a donors conference to support the countries hit by the Cyclone Idai, especially Mozambique.

The dean of the group of African ambassadors, Fatiha Selmane, ambassador of Algeria, focused her intervention on refugees and displaced persons in Africa.
