Angola/Equatorial Guinea: Presidents satisfied by level of bilateral relations

Luanda – The presidents of Angola, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, and of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Guema, expressed their satisfaction at the spirit of solidarity that characterizes the fraternal relations between the two countries.

According to the statement released to the press at the end of Monday’s few-hour visit to Angola by the Head of State of Equatorial Guinea, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in all areas.

The document states that both presidents agreed to hold the second session of the Bilateral Cooperation Commission (Angola – Equatorial Guinea) during the first quarter of 2018.

At the regional level, the two statesmen expressed their concern about the persistence of conflicts in some countries of Central Africa and Great Lakes region and reiterated their commitment to contributing to their resolution.

They advocated the need for peaceful resolution of crises, through dialogue and negotiation, thus enabling the preservation of the citizens’ fundamental rights.

The Heads of State also analyzed the growing threat of terrorism in Africa and expressed their solidarity with all the victims and reaffirmed the support of their countries for the efforts of the international community in the fight against this scourge.

The two presidents equally agreed on the need to continue working together at appropriate levels to combat and prevent illegal immigration, drug and human being trafficking, as well as other types of transnational crimes.
