Angola seeking first place in CPLP Games

Luanda – Angola is to participate in the 11th Edition of the Games of Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP) in SAPound o Tome and Principe on 21-28 July, eyeing to achieve the first place in the competition.

This was confirmed Thursday in Luanda by the head of the delegation to the event, Ndilo Mario, shortly before the departure of delegation to the venue of the event.

Forty-six athletes and 33 officials (coaches, judges, support staff and leaders) are integrating the delegation to the competition.

Angola is seeking the maximum level or at least to improve the third place, reached in 2016 in Cabo Verde.

“We are confident that we will be on the top of the 11th Games of CPLP, he said, adding that the youth have spent three months preparing for achieving the victory.”

Angola will compete in Under 16 category of soccer (men), basketball (3×3, women), athletics, beach volleyball, taekwando and adapted athletics, in both classes.

The competition brings together 690 athletes from Sao Tome and Principe, Angola, Portugal, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, East Timor and the new Equatorial Guinea.

The CPLP Sports Games aim to strengthen solidarity among the citizens of the Community countries.
