Angola: Prison Service committed to staff training

Luanda – Prison service will run five-month training this year as part of its commitment to technical-professional and academic training of its personnel.

This was said Monday in Luanda by the director general of the Jail Service, prison commissioner Antonio Joaquim Fortunato.

According to him, 320 members will attend the training this year in the specialty of prison officers, security and internal order, criminal re-education and integrated basic of jail technique.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the military training year of the Prison Service for 2017, the official requested the collaboration of the Penitentiary Technical School to better fulfil this goal.

He acknowledged the existence of cases of overcrowding in jail facilities, but he said that there are measures in progress to move the inmates to other facilities to improve their accommodation.
