Angola: President gets message from CAR counterpart

Luanda – Angolan Head of State Jose Eduardo dos Santos Monday in Luanda received a message from his Central African Republic (CAR) counterpart, Faustin-Archange Touadera.

The letter was delivered by the CAR’s minister of Foreign Affairs, Charle Armel Dubani, during an audience the President, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, granted to him at Presidential Palace in Luanda.

The special envoy of CAR president told the press at the end of the audience that he discussed with the Angolan Statesman the state of bilateral cooperation.

He said that the situation of political stability in his country is improving in terms of internal security despite some isolated skirmishes that disturb the peace.

The top diplomat said that his country’s government has been working with the international community for the full restoration of peace and security, with a view to achieving the global development.

Angola and Central African Republic have agreements signed in general terms in the political and diplomatic field.

According to him, there are interests in the areas of diamonds, diplomacy, defence and security.

In order to strengthen cooperation, the CAR President, Faustin Archange Touadera, paid last January a few hour working visit to Angola.

Angola and CAR are member countries of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR, along with Burundi, Republic of the Congo, DR Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.

Angolan head of State has been supporting this ICGLR member country, which experienced an internal interreligious conflict, to put an end to disagreement through dialogue.
