Angola: Israel reaffirms support for economic diversification process

Luanda – The Israeli government will continue to work with Angolan authorities with particular emphasis on agriculture under the process of the diversification of the Angolan economy, reaffirmed on Wednesday in Luanda, the Israeli ambassador to the country, Oren Rozenblant.

The diplomat said so to the press at the end of an audience granted by the speaker of the National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, with whom he addressed some political and parliamentary aspects.

Oren Rozenblant highlighted the fact that Israel has a high technological capacity in the area of agriculture and water treatment, which could contribute to a beneficial way to the development of the diversification of the Angolan economy.

In the parliamentary field, the diplomat said that he had exchanged some impressions with his interlocutor on the possibility of holding a meeting with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, where explanations would be given on the situation prevailing in the Middle East, in particular the conflict between Palestine and Israel.

Moreover, he also took the opportunity to invite the Angolan Parliament to visit Israel to check the situation of peace development in the Middle East.

Oren Rozenblant was accredited as the Israeli ambassador to Angola in November 2016, with the delivery of his credentials to the Angolan Head of State, Jose Eduardo dos Santos.

Relations between Israel and Angola were established 20 years ago, but it was only in 1995 that Israel opened a diplomatic mission in Luanda. A few years later, Angola did the same in that country.

Cooperation consists of agriculture, health, education, aviation, construction, fisheries, diamonds, security and telecommunications.
