Angola: INAMET recommends compliance with weather forecast

Luanda – The provincial, municipal and communal authorities should comply with the information provided by the National Meteorology and Geophysics Institute (INAMET) with a view to avoiding the damages and victims in their localities.

The head of the institution, Domingos Jose do Nascimento, advised this while speaking to Angop Wednesday on the heavy rainfall that hit several areas of the country Tuesday.

Domingos Nascimento said the damage caused by the rain that hit Tuesday many localities in the country can be mitigated should residents take precaution by complying with the information on weather forecast.

Taking into account the information is released every three month, since September of the previous year and updated monthly, the local governments have data on rainfall frequencies, seasons of greatest intensity, incidence, description, among other information that can be used to help plan preventive actions, the official underlined.

On the other hand, the INAMET warns in its statement sent to ANGOP of the occurrence on Thursday and Friday of heavy rainfall or moderate rain, sometimes coupled with thunderstorms in coastal Benguela province, with stress to the capital of the province, and in municipalities of Lobito, Balombo and outskirts of Ganda.
