Angola in Mozambique’s National Culture Festival

An Angolan delegation participates in the 9th National Culture Festival of Mozambique, taking place from 24 to 28 August in the cities of Beira and Dondo, Sofala Province.

The delegation is headed by the secretary of State for Culture, Cornelio Caley, representing the minister of Culture, Carolina Cerqueira.

Angola is in the event on the basis of the existing broad cultural exchange between the two countries and also to celebrate the diversity of cultural expressions in the context of the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of Diversity of Cultural Expressions.

The event, running under the motto “Cultural Diversity, National Unity and Development”, aims to promote, preserve and spread the arts, culture and popular traditions that were the source of inspiration of a people who freed themselves from colonial yoke and also honour the heroes of the national liberation struggle, such as Eduardo Mondlane, Samora Machel, and Agostinho Neto.
