Angola: February 4 Heroes buried in Alto das Cruzes honored

Luanda – Nationalists Paiva Domingos da Silva, Imperial Santana and Conego Manuel das Neves, buried in the Altos das Cruzes cemetery in Luanda’s Ingombota urban district, were honored Saturday with the lay down of a wreath, part of the 4 February celebrations.

Chaired by the Minister of Culture Carolina Cerqueira and the governor of Luanda Higino Lopes Carneiro, the ceremony was attended by several entities that also laid flowers on the tombs of the three national heroes.

Speaking to ANGOP, the nationalist Amadeu Amorim, urged the youth to seek good examples that dignify the sacrifice of national heroes and to carry out activities aimed at promoting peace and national unity within the communities for a more developed Angola.

On the other hand, Diogo Ventura, also a nationalist, considered that the 4th February, 1961 constitutes a permanent mark in the history of the resistance to the Portuguese fascist colonial regime for the attainment of the independence of Angola.

He argues that the elders who have participated in the national liberation struggle, especially the few who are still alive, must give testimony to the youth to imitate and stand firm in the defense of national sovereignty.
