Angola: Culture Minister hails 40 years of CICA

The official recalled the role played by the Churches during the long period of war that hit the country, already occupying peacetime in pacification and harmonization among Angolans divided for political reasons.

The minister also referred to the intervention of CICA in areas such as education, health and social assistance.

She highlighted the creation of the Centre for Training and Culture in Luanda, the creation of theological and cultural studies in Benguela and the creation of the Ecumenical Centre for Rural Development in Huambo province.

“With regard to health, I have to emphasize the rehabilitation and the supply of medicines to the health posts, centres and hospitals of the churches affiliated to the council”, she said.

In the framework of social assistance, the minister mentioned the support for foodstuff, clothing and construction material granted by the CICA to populations affected by natural and other disasters.
